Saab Likes it Both Ways

Saab-uk-Biopower.jpg
It’s not just saying it to win votes in a series of Big Brother – Saab has genuine bi tendencies.
Their new BioPower range runs very effectively on E85 fuel (not to be confused with delusional vanity cream, E45).
It also runs on bog standard unleaded petrol, or any combination of the two.
Having sold 17,000 BioPowered models in their Swedish homeland in 2007, Saab leasing could become the new ‘look at me, I’m dead green’ vehicle (push bikes are, apparently, still just not quite doing it for people 170 years later).

    G’day, Saab Possums

    saab_lease_93.jpg
This is the new Saab 9-3 Turbo X. Based on the top end 2.8 V6 model, but with the added punch of a new all-wheel-drive system.
It’s probably great to drive, and many Saab lease customers might well get very excited about it. However, I can’t get past Jeremy Clarkson’s incredibly accurate observation that this current 9-3 incarnation looks like it’s wearing a pair of Dame Edna Everage’s glasses!

SAAB Add to Planet’s Growing SUV Disease

      saab_lease.png
Wahey! Just when you thought life wasn’t worth living, now SAAB are thrusting another pointless SUV into our grimacing faces.
Spy shots have appeared on the Auto Express web site, and guess what? It looks like every other boring kiddie chariot we’ve been subjected to in recent years.
People will go for it though, no doubt. God only knows why, but they’ve fallen for all the other identically characterless crap. I think they’re really letting the side down for SAAB lease customers.

Saab Wind Deflector – An Expensive Afternoon

        saab_lease.jpg
With the UK climate shifting once again toward a temperature more forgiving to brass monkeys, Saab are pushing their ‘wind deflector’ add-on for the 9-3 convertible.
For what I’ve seen described as “JUST £349.95″ (a bit like “It’s JUST a flesh wound” from Monty Python’s ‘Holy Grail’), Saab lease customers can own this bit of kit which is said to reduce forward wind speed between the front seats, door and driver’s seat by a minimum of 75 per cent.
This is all well and good… if you live pretty much anywhere but the UK. When making an outright purchase for an item that you hope will benefit you repeatedly over time, it’s always good to do a rough calculation and work out how much it’s costing you each time you use it – like working out the price per day of your lease car, for example, even though you might pay monthly.
So let’s do a rough estimate for the value of the Saab wind deflector…
        Let’s see, it costs £349.95…
Divide by the hours of glorious UK sunshine in one year…
        That’s roughly £349.95 per hour!
But then, if you have the kind of logic that led you to choose a convertible in the UK, you’ll probably think that’s a bargain!
