The New Ford Capri
The Ford Capri was my Uncle’s favourite car in the 70′s and 80′s. From memory he had 3 of them and cherished them and repaired them well beyond the financial worth. That was in the day before Ford Capri Leasing!!
So the other day i called round and he was reading that Ford are bringing the iconic car back, OK it won’t have the long bonnet but from the mock up images it looks so good that I could be following in my uncles footsteps and getting one in 2010!
I reckon they will sell like hotcakes.

More reasons to smile when you see the engine range which includes a New turbocharged EcoBoost powerplants will be available, with most cars getting a 1.6-litre petrol, producing 148bhp or 178bhp.
A new 1.6 TDCi diesel will also debut, giving up to 128bhp, alongside a flagship 2.0-litre with 168bhp or 197bhp. You never had a diesel in the original, how times change! All these units will combine pace with superb fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. And helping the Focus Coupé to be even more efficient will be the option of a Powershift twin-clutch gearbox. This will be offered in addition to a standard-fit manual transmission. Stop-start technology is also expected to be rolled out across the line-up. So a fully kitted out Ford Capri with lots of goodies but the question is how much and what sort of car leasing deals can we put together?

Sixty-eight to the gallon, £35 road tax. Want one?

Like it or not, the influence of the global warming threat is now driving strategy for the mainstream car makers and the key outcome is smaller and/or lower powered cars.
Ford enters 2009 with an increased number of models emitting under 120g CO2/km and qualifying for road tax of only £35 annually. Ford now offers 51 sub-120g models – 18 more than a year ago.
Ford also offers the most comprehensive sub-160g range of all manufacturers, with 185 models providing savings to company car drivers and their employers. With tax based on emissions, a 2.0-litre Ford Mondeo’s 156g CO2/km results in £200 less company car tax per year.
From April 2009 companies will be able to write down the value of sub-160g cars at 20 per cent annually (instead of the 10 per cent allowance on cars emitting over 160g).
Clearly this trend will influence the car leasing market and low emissions will have a significant impact on leasing costs.

Sharp Focus

Due out in March 2009 the new Ford Focus RS already has 1500 UK orders despite it’s likely £25K price tag.
At the heart of the all-new Focus RS is a specially developed, turbocharged version of the Duratec 2.5-litre 5-cylinder engine. Significantly revised for high performance, this powerplant is targeting an impressive power output of 300PS and over 410Nm of torque, contributing to an excellent power-to-weight ratio. Early performance testing indicates a 0-100km/h (0-62mph) time of under six seconds.
Despite the photo we don’t anticipate a very green car but we do anticipate speed freak satisfaction and car leasing popularity.

Ford just wants to have…

Ford has won its court battle to register the word ‘Fun’ as a European trademark.
An earlier decision by Europe’s trade mark registration body (OHIM) refused to register the word saying the word FUN is “too vague and subjective to give the word a descriptive character.”
It’s quite possible that 99% of the rational world would agree with that decision. But not the EU’s second highest court – the catchily-named European Court of First Instance. Unless the EU’s highest court overturns this decision Ford will forever be linked with Fun in Europe. Not so back home in the US of A where it is asking Congress for a 9 billion dollar bail-out.
We look forward to a FUN model with happy trim level, a ten-tone horn and a clown at the wheel. Should be popular in the car leasing market.
