“So one rushed out and the bloody Beemer had gone – what a hoot!”

Its easily done. You’re a royal princess, toodling along South Ken high street in the personalised Beemer your dad bought you for your 17th birthday, when you decide to pull over and pop into a nice boutique with your police protection officer. When you come out – what a bugger – somebody’s done a runner in it! What to do next? I know, get the idiot police protection man to radio for help. Sure enough a marked police car rushes out followed by another, unmarked, car bringing your equally royal sister so you can both dive into the nearest pub and have a giggle about it all.
Leaving the keys in the ignition could have happened to any of us and it’s unlikely Beatrice’s dad would have been too harsh with her. How he felt about the police protection man on the other hand…
The method of theft deployed on Princess Beatrice’s BMW was the second most popular. The top technique is still home burglary/key theft. Identity theft is surprisingly the third most popular method and involves using stolen or forged documents to obtain a duplicate key. Fourth most popular is taking a test drive whilst pretending to buy the car. Scariest is what is called the ‘lifestyle’ crime whereby criminals carry out surveillance on the car user to determine best time and method of theft.
Anyone want to lease a really nice executive car with a unique reg.?

Stunning new 7 to launch next month

Scheduled to go on sale in November the new BMW 7 is being hailed as setting a new benchmark in automotive luxury, technical innovation and class-leading dynamics. So far with no estimated price, the fifth generation of BM’s 7 series lists a lot of firsts:-
• World’s first Night Vision system with individual pedestrian recognition
• World’s first production car with front side view camera
• First BMW Saloon with speed-related Integral Active Steering
• First BMW with Lane Change Warning
• BMW 7 Series to feature EfficientDynamics for class-leading CO2 emissions and fuel consumption
Using a 2,979cc powerplant, the BMW 740i musters 326hp and 450Nm of torque. The car accelerates from zero to 62mph in 5.9 seconds before going on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. The 3.0-litre BMW 740i and 740Li post combined fuel consumption figures of 28.5mpg and 28.2mpg respectively, while returning emissions figures of 232g/km and 235g/km.
The new 7 Series comes with one of the most luxurious interiors of any premium car. In addition to a new iDrive controller and larger 10.2-inch screen, owners will be able to programme frequently selected radio stations or navigation destinations on favourite buttons located on the centre console.
The 7 Series is the first BMW to enable a customer to upload their favourite music to be stored on the vehicle courtesy of an 8Gb hard drive. In excess of 100 albums can be saved in this way for the driver’s enjoyment. Four-zone automatic air-conditioning is fitted as standard while, for the first time, the 7 Series can have a rear seat ventilation system combined with massage function. The air-conditioning system feeds cool air to the seat squab and backrest, while 12 massage bubbles gently knead the occupants’ upper body.
For luxury car leasing it looks like the BMW 7 will be hard to beat

BMW Alpina D3

It’s a classic car leasing question: “I’d like a car that does over 50mpg, 0-60 in under 7 seconds, and has a top speed of over 150mph please”.
It doesn’t have many answers, but the BMW Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo is one.
The Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo kicks out 214bhp, whilst emitting only 143g/km (which is reportedly less less than a Fiesta 1.4 Zetec).
Major attention to weight reduction has slashed 150 kilos off the standard 330d, which makes the D3 one of the most economical and green cars available in its class.
