This is the world’s first wooden supercar, aptly named 'The Splinter'. It was built by Joe Harman for a project at North Carolina State University.
It is claimed that the Splinter can outrun both a Porsche and a Lamborghini!
With an amazingly light body weight (1,134kg), The Splinter can achieve a top speed of 240mph - and still remain relatively efficient, delivering up to 20mpg.
Speaking about the project, Harman said: “We aren't trying to sell anything; we aren't trying to save the world, and we aren't advocating that everyone should drive a wooden car. This project is a scholastic endeavour in which we are simply trying to explore materials, learn, teach, share ideas, and stimulate creativity.”
Unfortunately, The Splinter is unlikely to be appearing on any car leasing web sites just yet, but you can always settle for the inferior option of Porsche or Lamborghini leasing!
