The 335i, hitherto so effective with its twin-turbo in-line six has – shock – gone to a single turbo, Valvetronic and High Precision Direct injection equipped specification. So bar-room bragging rights might take a hit there. But, wait for it, the power and torque peaks remain the same as the old engine’s (no indication yet of whether these have moved up or down the rev range) and the fuel consumption drops by 8% (to 33.6mpg) with CO2 by more than 10%, so sneaking the Coupe into the UK’s VED Band J at 196g/km. We will wait to see whether the Valvetronic technology, which loses the conventional throttle butterfly, will have any impact on the 335i’s previously highly responsive nature.

One word. Phwoarh.
The new XJ keeps many traditional Jaguar styling cues, such as a wire grille, but its sides come straight down; probably better for aerodynamics, rather than the more torpedo-like shape of older Jags. The roofline also extends back far over the trunk, with small triangular windows behind the main rear side windows. A standard glass top also has two sunroofs, both of which open, for front and rear seats.

Heather Mills is shocked to feel a bump

Heather Mills marked her 42nd birthday – by crashing her £40,000 Lexus lease car!

Mucca drove her Lexus 4×4 car into a bollard, smashing the front of the luxury motor.

The one-legged Dancing On Ice contestant was seen charging straight into it at North London’s Alexandra Palace ice rink after rehearsals for the show.

An onlooker said: “Heather came out of the ice rink carrying her skating leg and jumped in the car.

“She must have forgotten that she was parked in front of a post and just charged straight into it.

“She was pretty shocked as it was quite a bump. She got out of the car and saw the damage she’d done and was livid.

“It was her birthday, so no doubt that made her extra angry.”

The former wife of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney – dubbed Mucca over her porn past – is not thought to have been hurt in the prang.

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI R205 builds on last year’s Spec C model and has been developed following Subaru’s participation in the Nurburgring 24 Hours.

Powering all four wheels is a 316bhp, 318lb ft 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Power has been increased by retuning the ECU and adding a new sports exhaust system. It uses a six-speed manual gearbox.
