Geely to buy Volvo!!

Who are Geely? That’s my initial thought when I heard the news that Ford are planning to contract even further and dispose of their prestige brands, land rover sold off, Jaguar sold off, Aston Martin sold off and finally Volvo?

How times are changing a decade ago they were buying all the prestige brands and from the Prestige automotive group, now it’s nearly all been sold off as Ford look to plug the accounts.

So who are Geely?

Geely used to make the cheapest cars in China, but it has been moving towards appealing to more affluent customers. And is looking to put a serious bid on the table to take over Volvo cars with Ford looking to sell all the business.

If you think how much Volvo have improved there image in the past decade and a half, from the T5 that wowed everyone as an exciting fast Volvo to the latest XC90 4wd crossover. The Geely company are going to get a great brand. Obviously they won’t be looking at car leasing to take ownership of the brand but if your looking at Volvo car leasing then give us a call today on 08000 588 660

‘We absolutely do not want to buy Volvo Cars’ – Volvo Group Chairman

Ford is rumoured to want to sell Volvo Cars to help it to save money. But, despite pressure from the Swedes to bring the famous brand back to Sweden, the Volvo Group (which builds buses, trucks and construction equipment) don’t want it back.
Volvo Group Chairman Johnsson has offered to ‘help out’ Volvo Cars with joint projects and research but pours cold water on suggestions that the state should nationalise the car company. He claims the state knows nothing about the car industry – the same might be said for the Volvo Group and Ford in view of recent years attempts to make money out of a well-loved marquee.
It’s unlikely that Volvo will disappear from the list of favourites for purchase or car leasing.

New XC60 to gain power and improved green credentials

volvo-xc60.jpg
In what is described as a ‘systematic reduction of CO2 emissions from its conventional drivelines’ Volvo will, during the first half of 2009, launch a variant of its new crossover – the Volvo XC60 – with front-wheel drive, an upgraded Euro 5-compliant 2.4-litre diesel engine, featuring 175 horsepower, 420 Nm of torque and CO2 emissions of less than 170 g/km.
With an extra 12 horsepower and lower fuel consumption the new model is set to have major appeal for buyers who want to focus on economy and better CO2 emissions without compromising on driving performance.
Volvo has always been a popular brand for car leasing and the new model will extend that appeal.

What women really want…a Volvo

volvos40.jpg
The luxury car with the highest male ownership is the Audi RS4. The car with the highest female ownership is the Volvo S40. Nuff said?
Does this mean that women are boring, choosing sensible and safe cars over thrill rides? Or does it mean men are still little boys at heart wanting go-faster, gas-guzzling show-off racers? It certainly points to women buying with their heads and men with their – well –hearts.
Volvo’s dominance with women is revealed in the results of J.D.Power & Associates’ recent survey where there wasn’t a sports car to be found in the top 10 list of cars with the highest female ownership. In fact Volvo takes 1st, 7th and 9th places (with S40, V50 estate and S60).
Volvo’s popularity with women also includes car leasing where the brand and its values has clear appeal.
