A cheap little runabout

Great news for Lambo addicts – fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder are down by a staggering 18%!
Oh, and it takes just 4 seconds to reach 62mph and only 13.1 seconds to reach 124mph before going on to a top speed of 201mph (courtesy of the new 5.2 litre V10 which outputs 560hp at 8000rpm). But you didn’t want to know about that did you?
Maybe you could get one through car leasing?

New Lamborghini Ad

This is the latest TV advert for the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. It’s a superb car, as you’d expect, so it doesn’t need a pushy sales pitch full of stereotypes and cheap patronising bonuses about ‘pulling chicks’ etc. Unfortunately, though, that doesn’t mean they haven’t gone down that exact, disappointing route with the ad.
It starts off really appealingly… then you quickly find yourself cringing in cliche world. To be fair, though – this is clearly aimed at the American market, where subtlety is yet to be released to the general public, so maybe this kind of embarrassingly immature pitch actually works there?
It’s still a shame to cheapen such a fantastic car, though. The cost of the advert was clearly above average, as is the cost of a lease Lamborghini contract, so I’d have expected something more worthy.

Wooden Car Faster Than a Lamborghini!

This is the world’s first wooden supercar, aptly named ‘The Splinter’. It was built by Joe Harman for a project at North Carolina State University.
It is claimed that the Splinter can outrun both a Porsche and a Lamborghini!
With an amazingly light body weight (1,134kg), The Splinter can achieve a top speed of 240mph – and still remain relatively efficient, delivering up to 20mpg.
Speaking about the project, Harman said: “We aren’t trying to sell anything; we aren’t trying to save the world, and we aren’t advocating that everyone should drive a wooden car. This project is a scholastic endeavour in which we are simply trying to explore materials, learn, teach, share ideas, and stimulate creativity.”
Unfortunately, The Splinter is unlikely to be appearing on any car leasing web sites just yet, but you can always settle for the inferior option of Porsche or Lamborghini leasing!
