How green?

Hopes for the sustainable future of the car are increasingly pinned on hydrogen fuel cell technology such as built into the Honda FCX Clarity. It is true that the only emission from such vehicles is water which will make a huge difference. But, as ever, it’s not as simple as that. There is the question of the damage done in the making of cars.
According to the UK Environmental Transport Association the manufacture of every new car results in around 6 tonnes of CO2 emissions. This is a pretty sizeable carbon footprint that cannot easily be ameliorated by the use of hydrogen fuel cell technology.
As an increasing number of businesses and individuals recognise the financial benefits of car leasing over outright purchase there is a similar increasing demand for greener, more environmentally friendly vehicles. If you are looking for a new car leasing deal be sure to ask about the green credentials of the cars on offer and choose carefully.

Fuel Cell Honda Clarity promises a new motoring generation

Its taken 19 years to develop but the first Honda advanced hydrogen fuel cell car has rolled off the company’s Japanese production line and clearly marks a major change towards cleaner motoring.
The FCX Clarity will emit nothing more than water from its exhaust pipe because its fuel cell stack simultaneously generates electricity and water – with no Co2 or other harmful emissions. Only 70 cars a year will be produced for the first 3 years and these will be leased out as part of an evaluation period for around £290 per month. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis is one of the early adopters.
Although full-scale production is a medium term objective for Honda, the company is focusing short-term on more affordable hybrid models – a certainty for the car leasing market

Honda Video: Where Are All The Great Car Ads?
Remember this amazing Honda advert:
Well, is it me, or has the car ad game gone off the boil in recent years?
I can’t think of one great campaign I’ve seen recently, yet there used to be loads. Surely they haven’t run out of money?? It’s about time car leasing had a boost from another creative TV hit.

New Honda Ad – Is THIS Cool?
This is the new Honda ad, featuring ‘live’ sky-diving.
The recent Honda campaigns have been a bit lost on me – I think they try too hard and just end up being too annoying. That said, I know some people really like them, so I suppose I’m not their target market.
I’m probably just not cool enough (old enough/deluded enough?) to be tempted by Honda leasing.
