Cadillac One: The Beast of Pennsylvania Avenue

Details of President-elect Barak Obama’s new official car have seeped out recently and it’s easy to see why it’s been christened ‘The Beast’.
While GM’s trying to make it look like a Cadillac DTS, it’s based on the company’s line of heavy-duty 2500 trucks. For a fast getaway, it must have a giant engine under the hood.
Because the presidential motorcade typically uses up to six decoy vehicles, there must be a mini-fleet of these behemoths on their way to the White House before too long.
The new President will be protected by some extreme modifications, including:
Armour-plated doors that are eight inches thick – each weighing the same as a cabin door on a Boeing 757 airliner.
A boot containing an independent oxygen supply and advanced fire-fighting system.
Defence systems include pump-action shotguns, night-vision cameras and tear-gas cannons.
Supplies of the President’s blood kept on board in case he needs emergency medical treatment.
Armour-plated petrol tank
Tyres which are Kevlar-reinforced, puncture- and shred-resistant, with special steel rims that allow the car to continue driving even if the tyre is missing.
Bodywork made up of a combination of dual-hardness steel, aluminium, titanium and ceramic material to help break up projectiles aimed at the car.
The car is reported to muster a top speed of only 60mph and manages just eight miles to the gallon. Don’t look for one of these in the car leasing lists – not even as a speciality car!
